Pricing, payment and deposit
Understand the quote, payment methods, deposit holds and final charges.
Your booking terms take priority
Availability, prices, limits and protection conditions can vary by pricing terms, branch and brand partner. Always use the terms shown for your booking as the final source.
How is the rental price calculated, and what does the quote include?
The rental price is calculated from the vehicle group, rental period, pickup and return dates and locations, and current availability and demand. Use the checkout price breakdown as the source: the total normally includes the listed base rate, taxes, protection and selected extras. Equipment, branch services, one-way or young-driver charges, fuel, tolls, parking, fines, cross-border arrangements or post-rental loss charges may be payable separately. Before payment, compare what is included, due today, payable at pickup and chargeable later. The confirmed booking and rental agreement provide the final applicable terms and charges.
Do rates differ depending on the rental period?
Yes. Each region has regular and high seasons with different rates. The price shown for your selected dates is the applicable rate.
How does online prepayment work?
Bookings made on the IX RENTAL website are prepaid online during booking. The amount shown before payment covers the confirmed booking contents. Extras added at the branch and other amounts due at pickup are paid separately using the currency and payment methods accepted by that branch; cash is not guaranteed to be available. Check the booking terms or confirm with the pickup branch before travel. Your card issuer may also charge currency-conversion or overseas-transaction fees.
What credit cards can I use?
The currently supported online payment methods are shown at checkout. Use a supported card and complete any required cardholder verification. Cardholder-name, card-type, physical-card and available-credit requirements for payment or deposit at pickup vary by booking and branch; check the rental terms or confirm with the pickup branch before travel.
Can I change the credit card registered for Online Credit Card Payment?
Before online prepayment succeeds, return to the payment step and use another supported card. After payment succeeds, the card used for that completed transaction cannot be replaced. Extras added at the branch and other amounts due at pickup are separate payments and must use the currency and payment methods accepted by the pickup branch; cash or a different card is not guaranteed to be accepted. Check the booking terms or confirm with the branch before travel, and note that the card issuer may charge currency-conversion or overseas-transaction fees.
Why is a deposit required at pickup?
The deposit is usually placed as a pre-authorisation on a payment card accepted by the pickup branch. It may cover fuel differences, late return, fines, damage, excess or other contractual charges arising during the rental. A pre-authorisation uses available credit but is not necessarily a final charge. The amount and card requirements vary by vehicle group, protection, branch and destination; check the booking terms before pickup.
When is the deposit released?
After the vehicle is returned, inspected and has no outstanding charges, the branch releases or voids the deposit pre-authorisation. The card issuer and payment network control when the hold disappears or available credit returns, which may take days or weeks. If the issuer’s normal processing time has passed, prepare the booking reference, return receipt and last four digits of the card, contact the issuer first, then contact IX support if needed.
Why was my payment declined?
Common causes include insufficient available credit, incorrect card details, a cardholder-name mismatch, blocked online or overseas use, failed 3-D Secure verification or issuer risk controls. Check the details and available balance, then try another supported card. Avoid repeated rapid attempts and contact the card issuer or IX support if the problem continues.
Why is there a charge after return, and how can I dispute it?
Later charges may relate to branch-added services, fuel, late return, parking, tolls, fines, cleaning, damage or administration. Compare the final invoice with the rental agreement and return record. If something appears wrong, contact IX support promptly with the booking reference, invoice, pickup and return evidence, receipts and relevant written communication; never send full card details.
Will late pickup or return incur extra charges?
Usually. Out-of-hours or night service, arriving after the booked pickup time, late return or extending the rental may incur charges under the booking and branch rules. In some cases, late return may be charged as an additional day or at a new rental-period rate. If you expect to be late or cannot return on time, contact the branch as early as possible before the scheduled time and obtain confirmation; an unconfirmed delay is not automatically approved.
